[The Iconic Machine Returns in a Special Colour Edition]

The Egress, a high-performance 4WD racing buggy first released in 1989, was developed as an upgraded version of the legendary Avante, one of Tamiya’s most iconic electric RC cars.

This Egress Black Edition is a special electric RC car assembly kit that retains the fundamental design of the original while updating various components to suit the modern RC scene.

In contrast to the predominantly silver finish of the original Egress, the Black Edition features a striking black colour scheme accented with white and blue graphics. To complement the body colour, the front and rear dampers and front uprights feature a dark titanium anodised finish, while the 6-spoke wheels are finished in silver, giving the car a sharp and distinctive appearance.

[Highly Rigid Shaft-Driven 4WD Chassis with Extensive Carbon Components]

The chassis uses a carbon-fibre double-deck frame, providing outstanding rigidity and excellent resistance to twisting.

The drivetrain features a longitudinally mounted motor with shaft-driven 4WD, and is fully equipped with ball bearings. The front and rear ball differentials have been redesigned from the original specification to provide smoother operation as well as improved maintenance and durability.

A one-way bearing is incorporated into the drive gear, producing a torque-splitter effect that delivers smooth and predictable handling. The one-way bearing can also be replaced with a locked setup if preferred.

The heavily loaded universal drive shafts adopt the same basic construction used in Tamiya’s current TRF series, providing smooth power transmission and excellent reliability.

The suspension is a four-wheel independent double-wishbone design, equipped with four oil-filled dampers featuring aluminium cylinders. Front and rear stabilisers (anti-roll bars) are also fitted, while the front uprights are precision-machined from high-strength aluminium.

The steering system features ball bearings on the wiper-arm shafts and uses a 2.0mm-thick carbon plate, providing precise and linear steering response.

Naturally, the chassis is also fully capable of delivering excellent performance with today’s popular brushless motors.
